GI Divisions are as follows:

Kid (10, 11 and 12 years) All belts
Junior (13, 14 and 15 years) All belts
Juvenile (16 and 17 years) White and Blue Belts
Adult (18 years and up) White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black Belts
Master (30 years and up) White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black Belts
Senior (40 years and up) White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black Belts

If a competitor is the only person in his division, he will be given the choice of being awarded a medal or moved up to another division. He can be moved up another weight division or age category in the GI division. He can be moved up another weight division, age category, or experience level in the NO-GI division.

NO-GI Jiu-Jitsu experience levels are as follows:

Beginner: under 1 year
Intermediate: under 3 years
Advanced: over 3 years

A Beginner level competitor can fight in Intermediate or Beginner.
An Intermediate level competitor can fight in Advanced or Intermediate.
